New catalogue by Natascha Stellmach 02/05/10

On the occasion of the exhibition at Fotogalerie Wien Austria, Natascha Stellmach launches her new publication It is Black in Here.
“It is Black in Here catalogues Natascha Stellmach’s provocative storytelling oeuvre, bringing together selected photography, film and installation works from the last decade of her practice. As a work in itself, It is Black in Here conjures up the abyss, confronting us with uncertainty and, possibly more fittingly, the sensation of waking from a dream.
With her background in essayist filmmaking, Stellmach’s works blend documentary and fiction with a strong personal voice, to tell intimate stories about the transience of life. It is this consistent interest in the emotional layers of her conceptual works that sets her apart.”
Celina Lunsford, Director, Fotografie Forum Frankfurt

Main theme 2010: Now – Time, Told
The Darmstädter Tage der Fotografie developed from an initiative of photographers. The international festival is meanwhile named as one of most important German photography events. It places relevant themes and cultivates an interdisciplinary discourse in the photography.
Time as central idea in photography contains the technical aspect of generating a picture as well as the content transfer of time in a picture. Through observation and interpretation are the events of the day captured. As an authentic, narrated or staged moment, or as timeless, concentrated or epic tale.
Also exhibited are the works of Josef Schulz from his series "Übergang".

Landscape without Horizon

Landscape photography is highly topical. That said, our perception of a landscape is as a rule highly influenced by the line of the horizon.
In the international discourse on contemporary landscape photography, this exhibition focuses for the first time on artistic positions which, in their specific views of the landscape, eliminate or override the horizon as a demarcation line between the sky and the earth.
The works of the 15 international contemporary photographers featured in the exhibition
are not characterised by their view of the landscape in its totality, but by their highly different
microscopic and macroscopic ways of seeing.

Große Resonanz für Peter Dreher 09/03/10

Mit einem neuen Besucherrekord wurde die 7. Art Karlsruhe beendet.

Still´s Life: Catalogue of Ina Geißler 04/02/10

"A major theme for Ina Geißler is painting picture spaces. This defines the productive contradiction that feeds her work, and infuses her paintings with their specific pictorial dynamics: It is the conflict-turned-fertile between the flat picture carrier and the interlocking units of spaces, composed of numerous painted lines, surfaces and structures that are interwoven to form a highly complex picture whole." (Editor Peter Lodermeyer)
