Jirkuff’s work is often reminiscent of comics due to her use of felt-tip marker drawings as the basis for her video animations. Jirkuff’s videos are complemented by media quotations and music sequences. The world of her protagonists could be anywhere and nowhere. In her work she questions urban space, the influence of media on our everyday life and our contemporary identity. Is identity today not fundamentally produced by media imagery?
