Guest Artist *1982, Germany Sebastian Nebe’s large-scale paintings depicting forests and cropped landscapes appear naturalistic, however Nebe’s handling of light and colour lends a scenic element to his work. His adoption of the tradition and canon of the Romantic movement ensues his paintings to be perceived as allegorical. In order to further intensify the thematic and atmospheric experience of looking at his paintings, Nebe creates objects and installation works resembling the stylistic device used in filmmaking. The cinematic approach accentuates the staged aspect of his work. Sebastian Nebe completed his Fine Arts studies under the guidance of Professor Astrid Klein at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. |
