Kim Simonsson     Works     Vita
* 1974, Finland

Kim Simonsson uses clay and glass to model his figures, materials that are still rarely used in contemporary sculpture. Simonsson’s sculptures are often glazed white, and therefore seem as delicate as porcelain.
His works remind of the figurative sculptures of Takashi Murakami, and stems from the visual culture of comics, fantasy, manga and fairytales. Despite their differences and childish playfulness they invite us to compare ourselves with them. The figures seem to cross borders as intercultural alter egos.
